If you are thinking about a career in New York's legal cannabis industry, this page explains how we work, what we look for, and what roles typically open at Beleaf so you know what to expect when hiring reopens. Learn about our mission and values to see what drives the way we work.

Why Work at Beleaf

Beleaf's mission is serving New York's cannabis consumers with professionalism, transparency, and integrity. Our ownership team built this company on principles of honest business, employee respect, and community commitment. Our culture reflects three core values: authenticity (be yourself at work), accountability (own your responsibilities), and customer-centricity (our job is making the customer experience excellent).

Dispensaries are professional retail environments staffed by knowledgeable, friendly teams who genuinely care about customer success. Our team is diverse, inclusive, and represents the communities we serve. We provide ongoing product training so you are always learning. Scheduling is flexible; we work with team members to accommodate school, side projects, or personal needs. Managers are accessible and support career growth; we promote from within whenever possible.

Our Hiring Process (When Open)

When Beleaf reopens hiring, the process is straightforward. Candidates are invited to apply through the posting channel we publish — not through the store phone lines.

Selected candidates complete a phone screening followed by an interview with the store manager. For manager positions, you may also interview with ownership. A background check (standard for cannabis retail; does not include prior cannabis possession unless felony-level) is part of onboarding.

New hires complete mandatory compliance training (NY cannabis regulations, age verification), product training across all categories and consumption methods, and store procedures before working a live floor shift.

Growth pathways are real. Budtenders become shift leaders then assistant managers. Delivery drivers transition into logistics or operations roles. Managers progress to regional oversight or corporate positions. We promote from within because we believe in developing our own talent.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Beleaf is committed to building a diverse, inclusive workplace reflecting the communities we serve in Brooklyn, Calverton, and Medford. We actively welcome applications from people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, women, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented populations in cannabis retail. Our hiring process is designed to be accessible; we provide accommodations for candidates with disabilities. Our team represents diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and we believe this diversity makes us stronger.
